Northern NSW Regional Club Challenge

This regional club team challenge is an annual event that is promoted and sponsored by Badminton NSW. It was first contested in 2012 and has a strong tradition of bringing players together from different areas both on and off the court.

If chosen to represent their club this competition is free of charge for players – providing that they are affiliated with Badminton NSW and through their own club’s membership.

Competing clubs have included teams from – Hunter, Central Coast, Coffs Harbour, Armidale, Tamworth, Nambucca Heads and the Newcastle University.

The competition format over the years has evolved into 2 divisions –

  • A competition division – for players of levels A & B
  • And a social division – for players of levels C & D

The team format may change from year to year, based on the clubs available and their numbers… however it has always been marketed as a mixed team event first.

A combined team dinner & presentation is planned after the first day’s competition and free social play is usually offered on the second day for players of this weekend event for players to further mix and mingle.

This year (in 2018) the organising club will be the Central Coast Badminton Club, however they have elected to hold the event on our courts in Newcastle – due to the size of the event increasing every year and for better accessibility for the visiting/travelling teams.

The event will be held on the 15th and 16th of September 2018
